Maharani 7-2-19

Maharani of the Marimba
(SF $20)
(Ansari 2013)
5.5” flower, 26” scape, EMRe, Ev, clear lavender pink with a blue violet eye. Outer edge is mulberry, blue violet, and very ruffled white or gold, usually with small teeth and loops, green to yellow throat; doubles fully about 40% of the time (shown double and single). How lavender vs. pink it is depends on fertilizer and soil. BC15,  BR3. Fertile both ways. Named in memory of my mother, Miriam Skopin, who came to San Francisco from Ohio in the '40s to pursue her musical career. The press called her the “Maharani of the Marimba.” This daylily reminds me of her fancy costumes.
